Exitos Varios is a new compilation of songs assembled by U.M.A.W, The Union of Musicians and Allied Workers. U.M.A.W. is a new group of musician activists that aims to organize music workers to fight for a more just music industry, and to join with other workers in the struggle for a better society. All money made from this compilation will go directly to United We Dream, a youth led organization benefiting undocumented immigrants in the USA.

To create Exitos Varios’ diverse tracklist, organizers reached out to 5 artists and asked them each to curate three tracks for the comp. These curators include Julia Holter, Clyde Peterson (of Cruisin’ Records and Your Heart Breaks), Mary J. Regalado (of Downtown Boys & Gauche), Josi Arias (of Agua Viva) and Ryan Mahan (of Algiers). The resulting mix is a wide zig zag through the landscape of contemporary, underground music makers. These are songs for the revolution, ‘variety hits’ for difficult times, celebrations of the change to come.

This compilation will be available only on Bandcamp, beginning on Friday July 3rd, another one of those generous days where Bandcamp waives their usual sales percentage. To celebrate the release UMAW will be hosting a live stream event on July 3rd at 8:30 EST. The stream will feature a presentation from representatives of United We Dream and performances by Too Free, Agua Viva, L.uxe, Jackie Mendoza, Algiers & Mia Joy.
